Who was Morris Kight?

The short answer is:

· Co-founder of Gay Pride Parade, 1970

• Co-founder Dow Action Committee, 1965

· Co-founder Gay Liberation Front/Los Angeles, 1969

· Principal co-founder of Gay Community Services Center, 1971 (now known as Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center)

· Co-author of Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Platform, 1972

· Principal co-founder Van Ness Recovery House, 1973

· Principal co-founder Stonewall Democratic Club, 1975

· Co-founder of Gay and Lesbian Caucus/California Democratic Party, 1976

· Commissioner of Human Relations for the County of Los Angeles, 1980-2002 Vice President 1981-88; President 1988-89

· Grand Marshal of numerous parades and recipient of many awards and recognitions including the Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award from the Southern California American Civil Liberties Union
